The 2021-2022 NFL season is well on its way. For many New Yorkers, this means one of two things.
As a New York Bills fan, you’re optimistic about how the season is going so far. But if you’re part of the New York Giants or New York Jets fandom, then Sundays have become much less enjoyable.
Being based in New York, our market research company was curious to compare what NFL teams were most favored across the 11 Designated Market Areas (DMAs).
In a recent survey, Drive Research asked over 500 New York residents the following questions:
- Who do you predict will win the 2022 Super Bowl LVI?
- Who is your favorite NFL sports team?

When asked, “Who do you predict will win the 2022 Super Bowl LVI?” respondents were given the choice between all 32 NFL teams.
The New York Bills were by far the clear winner across several DMAs including:
- Albany DMA
- Buffalo DMA
- Elmira DMA
- Rochester DMA
- Syracuse DMA
- Utica DMA
- Watertown DMA
Regardless of their current 0-3 record, the New York DMA is sticking to their guns and predicting the New York Giants will make a run for the 2022 Super Bowl LVI title.
Meanwhile, New York Jets fans are nowhere to be found.
Who is New York’s Favorite NFL Team?
According to our survey results, New York’s favorite team is the Buffalo Bills by 24% of respondents.
The breakdown by New York DMA included the following teams:
